Who helped you achieve your dreams?

Back in 2006, Just in Time volunteers wanted to answer that question for the hundreds of young people leaving foster care who faced overwhelming odds to overcome national statistics predicting only 3% of them would graduate from college.

They knew that their own children needed a combination of essential tools and resources like laptops, printers, dorm and school supplies, as well as consistent support and encouragement, to overcome the inevitable challenges, doubts, and obstacles that can derail a college education.

And so College Bound was launched.

Now, as we prepare for our 13th College Bound cohort for 55 eager and determined students, we offer an extraordinary opportunity for you to have a significant impact by turning academic dreams into a confident, capable and connected future. With your support, it is remarkable what heights our youth can reach.

Through our innovative community-based model which focuses on personal empowerment and the development of caring relationships, Just in Time has achieved enrollment and graduation rates that are well above the state and national averages for foster youth. 93% of foster youth reported a desire to go to college, while only 3-6% will go on to earn a degree. College Bound has a proven track record of success having served over 550 youth with 67% either still enrolled or graduated!

“I would like to thank you for sponsoring myself and the other participants. I can let you know that this has been a tremendous help and relief of stress due to the programs offered by the program, funded by you and others. I was in quite a tough spot as I was referred to this program, but getting connected with them has been such a great and kind gesture.”

“Thank you so much for your generosity. It means the world to have someone care about me. Thank you because the opportunity you lend me and anybody else who wants to pursue a higher education is just the most amazing thing anybody can have. I want to pursue a higher education and I am attending SDSU at the moment, my degree is Computer Science. So as a thankful student, I want to say that you have filled the spot my parents couldn’t. Thank you for helping me through the tough times when I had no one to lean on.”
