20 Years of Empowering Life Changing Choices
A look back and a look ahead
This year, Just in Time for Foster Youth celebrates 20 years of empowering life changing choices. In 2002, a handful of concerned women brought holiday gift baskets to foster youth who were transitioning out of care. This small act of kindness evolved into Just in Time for Foster Youth – A caring community of 750+ volunteers; 150+ collaborative partners; led by a 30+ person staff (over 50% of whom are former foster youth). This ecosystem of support provides resources and relationships to over 1,600 transition age foster youth, 18-26, in San Diego County annually.
Celebrate with us at our 20th Anniversary Family Reunion Picnic Saturday August 6th, 10am til 2pm. Click here to RSVP.

“Did I think Just in Time would grow into what it is today? To be honest, I did not have that vision. What I knew was that I wanted to help. I wanted to provide support for these young people, to empower them as they made the transition into adulthood. My own children had just made that transition, and I understood how critical it was for them, for all young people, to have people who care about them.”

Moving Forward and Scaling Our Impact
As Just in Time works diligently to be a light for former foster youth, we have expanded several of our in-house efforts and developed new partnerships to help in our mission.
What’s to Come:
Development of our alumni community which impacts former foster youth who no longer fit into the age range of our services.
Expanding our mental health services by adding a Clinical Psychologist and providing practicum hours for doctoral candidates to meet with our participants.
Launching our first-ever online platform, The JIT Network, to stay connected with the members of our community from anywhere in the world
Broadening our outreach efforts to connect with former foster youth before they turn 18.
Providing our coach approach model to various national organizations that work with foster youth.
A published book co-written by our very own Don Wells and Diane Cox!
As our community grows, we want to thank you for your efforts in helping us establish a real, reliable, and responsive community for individuals whom the foster care system has impacted.
