A JIT “Family” Reunion
Picnics & Plays: JIT Youth Hit the Park & the Stage
Hundreds of Just in Time youth and volunteers gathered at Encanto’s Martin Luther King Jr. Park on Saturday, August 6th.
From white tents lining the lawn, attendees shot hoops and tried their luck at ring toss. At the tie-die station, youth and their families turned white t-shirts into psychedelic works of art, and in front of the DJ booth, toddlers shuffled to pop music, their tiny hands sticky sweet from melted paletas. For the first time in 2 years, the JIT community had returned, in person, to the annual “Family” reunion picnic.

We had such a blast today! I was so happy seeing so many familiar faces and so many kiddos! Such a fun, wholesome, hot day! Thank you, JIT, for bringing our family together today!

Participants got to enjoy many fun games and booths as well as have a great lunch from the taco bar. Many participants brought their families and loved ones along for the fun.

JIT Youth Go Behind The Scenes at La Jolla Playhouse’s
On July 28th JIT youth took to the stage at La Jolla Playhouse for a behind-the-scenes look at the new play “Here There Are Blueberries.” This immersive experience gave participants the chance to observe the technical process of the mainstage production; meet and dine with La Jolla Playhouse staff members; discuss the ins and outs of theater production, and, of course, a chance to see the play!
One of the most fun parts for me was seeing everything and everyone involved in the process of bringing theater to life
