Ivy Cubero and her coach Christine Jorgensen
Ivy and her coach Christine Jorgensen have been on a financial literacy journey that started 2 years ago when they were paired through JIT’s Financial Fitness 102 service: an 8-week deep dive into, not just budgeting, but credit building (or repair), interest rates, investing, and even the psychology and emotions behind our spending habits.
Throughout the cohort, participants meet with their coaches weekly. When Ivy graduated to Financial Fitness 103, she asked Christine to carry on as her coach.
Through Financial Fitness 103, youth are eligible to receive matched savings to incentivize responsible money management. Ivy plans to use her match to get a new car, one that is reliable, fits her lifestyle and her budget.
We love celebrating success in our community and are so grateful for volunteers like Christine who share their time and knowledge with the young adults we serve! Congratulations, Ivy!
Tax season is in full swing and at Just in Time for Foster Youth, we are working with participants to file on time and pick up those tax credits!
With workshops scheduled both at the JIT office and at nearby college campuses, we strive to work with youth schedules and to meet them where they’re at!

Our next tax workshop is scheduled for March 18th and will combine taxes and tacos (a way to make the evening less tedious and more fun!).
Participants are paired with volunteers from our community who walk them through the tax process.
