Sure, it sounds easy, but is it? Hosting is an art, and nobody knows it better than JIT Marketing Manager and Volunteer, Amy Blum!
With Amy as their guide, youth took a whirl at building butter boards and artfully simple salads, setting a table AND a vibe, inviting guests in and how to draw an evening to a close. In addition, they got pro-tips on how to be a comfortable guest!
Should you arrive early? NO!
What better way to build community, strengthen friendships, and make memories than by inviting friends over for dinner and good times?
Now our youth can host and be hosted with confidence!
Remember, the skills youth learn at JIT aren’t limited to financial literacy and professional development! Sign up as a JIT volunteer and share your unique skills today!
The event reminded me that family doesn’t always have to be blood, but the people you surround yourself with feeling loved, comfortable, and safe. The highlights from the Hosting event, for me, were about eating healthier (less junk food), creating butter boards (I had not done that before), saving money, and learning how to serve guests.
