Community leaders, philanthropists, and stakeholders in Child Welfare gathered at the Hilton Bayfront for a Leading Change Luncheon, hosted by Just in Time for Foster Youth, and featuring nationally renowned foster care advocate Sixto Cancel.
Sixto, a recent recipient of a $47 million Audacious Project grant, inspired attendees with his personal story of resilience while emphasizing the importance of embracing lived experts, kinship care and collaboration to empower those impacted by foster care.
Former mayor Kevin Faulconer, key members of San Diego Child Welfare Services and former foster youth turned actor and BMX star John Buultjens were all in attendance.
As Just in Time continues building momentum toward a 100K community, we are privileged to share experiences and collaborate with lived experts from around the country to educate, inspire and, ultimately, transform the child welfare space into one that empowers youth to grow into confident, capable and connected adults.
