Vision Board Workshop Participants
Cindy Estrada-Loera and Amairany in the process of creating a vision board
For My Life, My Story’s female cohort, Saturday’s workshop was a chance to stop, drop and reflect on goals and values through the crafting of vision boards.
Armed with scissors, cork boards, and time, attendees thumbed through old issues of Good Housekeeping, Food and Wine and Vogue for aspirational images. The carefully crafted boards included affirmations like “Debt Free” and “Help Others” alongside images of happy families, country cottages, and gardens bursting with flowers and vines.
Each participant had their own method for constructing their board – some threw images down right away, others carefully curated assets in piles before settling on a design.
“I’m just letting my intuition guide me,” said JIT participant Amairany. The top half of her board dominated by a bright blue sky and the words “Onward.”
MLMS Male Cohort Hike
For the My Life, My Story Men’s cohort, Saturday was a great day to hit the trail. The group arrived at Torrey Pines State Park for a hike facilitated by JIT partner Foster Earth. Acting as trail guides, Foster Earth volunteers provided encouragement and knowledge pointing out native plants and animals along the 1.3 mile hike. They even paid for JIT participant parking at the trail head!
“A few of the guys said they wanted to get out more after this experience, and they hadn’t realized how great and accessible places and hikes like this are around SD!” said Just in Time alumni Jason who leads the My Life, My Story male cohort and attended the hike.
