Therapists and former foster youth talk about what works to support healing – beyond psych meds

Just in Time was asked to lend their perspective to an investigative multi-part series, Medicated in Foster Care: Who’s Looking Out?, from MindSite news and their colleagues at The Imprint, a national nonprofit news outlet covering child welfare and youth justice.

This May, which is both mental health and foster care awareness month, Just in Time was asked to lend their perspective to an investigative multi-part series, Medicated in Foster Care: Who’s Looking Out?, from MindSite news and their colleagues at The Imprint, a national nonprofit news outlet covering child welfare and youth justice.

Just in Time participant Kory Gonzalez and Alumni Luvern Titcomb graciously shared their experiences of mental health care within the foster care system. Just in Time Mental Wellness Director Dr. Jill Ault also lent her expertise and experience to the article.

The result? A moving and eye-opening testimonial that provides insight into the challenges youth within the foster care system face on their journey to mental wellbeing.

We are grateful to Kory and Luvern for practicing confident vulnerability and to Dr. Jill for representing Just in Time and for the powerful impact of the mental wellness team that she leads at the Just in Time office.
