Artwork by JIT Participants will hang at San Diego Watercolor Society Gallery in May.
Just in Time for Foster Youth and The San Diego Watercolor Society have joined forces again!
This week, more than 25 JIT participants joined in the last of a series of workshops aimed at promoting mental health and healing.
Throughout the series, youth have applied a variety of artistic styles to their wellness practice and have drawn influence from artists ranging from Basquiat to Bob Burridge and his Goof-Proof Color Wheel.
The latest workshop gave youth the opportunity to practice painting abstract figures while giving returning artists a chance to complete works started in other sessions so that they can showcase them in a dedicated show on May 3rd at the San Diego Watercolor Society’s Liberty Station Gallery (2825 Dewey Rd, Suite 105, Building 202, San Diego, CA 92106).
“My fav. Part of the workshop was the fact that we got to work with the color wheel because sometimes I get stuck. It gave me a guide and a new strategy to paint to. It was fun and relaxing. Making art is the only time that my brain is genuinely quiet.”
-Stephany Polanco, Just in Time Participant
