JIT Takes gold in fundraising, second Year in a Row!
by Virgo Villajin
Thank you to all of our supporters and community members for helping take JIT to our second consecutive victory in the Champions for Youth Fundraiser! We rallied together almost 800 contributors and raised over $273,000 towards our mission. Congratulations to us all!
Rise to Resilience & Outside the Lens
By: Virgo Villajin
In Rise to Resilience’s series, Reflect, Create, Express our cohort explored a new way to get in touch with their stories. By collaborating with our community partners at Outside the Lens, our participants designed digital album covers that reflect their past experiences. This new and creative way of viewing their stories was exciting for our participants and a great step in the right direction for them to reclaim their stories with pride rather than stigma.
JIT Community Vaccination Event
By Virgo Villajin
JIT recently hosted our first vaccination event. We provided an opportunity for our participants to get vaccinated at our JIT office in Mission Valley a comfortable and familiar place for our community. Everyone in the JIT community – and family members – are invited to our next vaccination event, on March 12th, 10 AM to 1 PM!
Culture
Every culture is defined by its rituals.
The expected ways we act toward one another when we come together. The stories we choose to share. The things we celebrate and honor.
At JIT, we consistently practice a ritual of our own at the start of our weekly staff meetings.
We begin with a story. About a participant, volunteer or supporter who reminds us what we love about the work we do. An inspiring accomplishment, an embracing attitude or an act of abundant generosity worthy of notice.
Then we move to affirmations, one story after another recognizing one another for efforts aligned with our Core Values. An act of creative Collaboration. A powerful display of Authenticity. A commitment to Ownership or actions aligned with Inclusion, Inquiry, Innovation or Inspiration.
Sometimes a few anecdotes. Sometimes 45 minutes or more.
Every culture is defined by its rituals.
