Thanks to San Diego Foundation, Just in Time participants will have greater access to essential mental wellness services including one-on-one and group counseling.
Funds from the $40,000 grant will be used to build upon Just in Time’s Mental Wellness strategy – a priority for the organization since COVID, when we experienced an urgent surge in requests for mental wellness services.
Currently, Just in Time is poised to open a dedicated wellness center at our Mission Valley location. Thanks to San Diego Foundation, youth visiting the center will be greeted by an expanded therapist team with increased capacity to provide individual and group therapy sessions to help mitigate the negative impacts of Adverse Childhood Experiences on transition age foster youth.
San Diego Foundation inspires enduring philanthropy and enables community solutions to improve the quality of life in our region. We are beyond grateful for their consistent support and belief in the youth we serve!
“When young adults are given access and encouraged to receive trauma-informed treatment, we can expect transformative change to follow. By changing the way in which services are offered we have the potential to change the trajectory of lives.”
Dr. Jill Ault – JIT Mental Wellness Supervisor
“During my last semester at school, I experienced stressful housing issues, I lost someone very close to me and so much more. In the past I would handle trauma by shutting everyone out. But Just in Time’s wellness interns really helped, and I feel like I’m getting through it and able to live my normal, daily life.”
