Walk The Talk Celebration
The focus of our event will be to connect and engage 400+ prominent members of our community to our mission and the young men and women whom we serve. As in the past, at least 70 transition age foster youth will be an integral part of the event, leading the program and sharing their stories. The evening will be festive yet relaxed, featuring gourmet cuisine, inspirational entertainment and unique experiences in our live auction.
Education is the best way to break the cycle of foster care and give the next generation the opportunity to make a contribution of their own. Create a future by investing in a 2017 College Bound youth!
JIT’s mission is to engage a caring community to help transition-age foster youth achieve self-sufficiency and well-being.
We envision a future in which every youth leaving the foster care system has a community of caring adults waiting for them after 18. We believe consistent, long-term help from the heart is the foundation for the success of our youth so they can thrive and enjoy productive, satisfying lives.
We often start with meeting an emergency need, such as rent assistance or a bus pass or setting up a first apartment. As we establish trust and build friendships, we address other needs such as money management, education support, and college graduation, job skills, networking, meaningful employment, reliable transportation, and health and well-being. We also build leadership from within — all of our Youth Services coordinators were once in foster care!
JIT provides financial support in emergency situations to transition-age foster youth.
