Rise to Resilience
Mental Health Awareness Month was last month, but we maintain our commitment to empowering our community by providing resources that promote wellness in vital areas such as finances, relationships, self-sufficiency, and health. Our Rise to Resilience service focuses on helping former foster youth learn to cultivate a sense of mental and physical strength and well-being. Coordinator Krystal Monroe has created exercises to help strengthen mental health. Learn about the impact experiencing foster care has on mental health in Krystal’s recent post:
Workshops help participants build communication skills…and confidence
Recently, Career Horizons for Young Women and Bridges to Success for Young Men focused on strengthening communication skills. The Coordinators developed workshops designed to teach conversational techniques in listening and asking questions. Participants had the opportunity to practice and apply these skills during their recent networking outings. Career Horizon’s practiced effective communication to help them win a relay race. The Bridges to Success cohort practiced listening skills as they attempted to solve puzzles in an escape room.
