What better way to end the year than with a front page feature in the San Diego Union-Tribune on Tuesday, December 13, 2016! The article features long time Just in Time for Foster Youth volunteer, Diane Archambault.

What better way to end the year than with the excerpt below from the front page of the San Diego Union-Tribune on Tuesday, December 13, 2016, featuring Just in Time for Foster Youth volunteer Diane Archambault. “Giving to an organization you care about, it’s inspirational. It’s like everyone is saying, ‘I don’t need a Christmas present. Let’s do something for someone else,’” Diane Archambault said. “With Just in Time, you can really make a difference. Whatever you do changes a life forever in a positive way, and I love that. What you do here really, really matters.” Just in Time for Foster Youth provides much-needed support and services to foster youth who have transitioned out of the foster-care system but still need the kind of safety-net help that young adults typically receive from their parents. They need help opening checking accounts and paying for car repairs. They need furniture and dishes for their first apartments or a place to go when their college dorm is closed for the holidays. They also need to know there is someone they can call when they blow out a bicycle tire or need to get their wisdom teeth pulled. Or when they land that coveted internship or that first job. As a Just in Time mentor and board member, Archambault is the person her Just in Time “kids” can call in good times and bad. The challenges will always be big, but the gifts will always be bigger. “I am half Greek, and we really understand the importance of family. The thought of growing up alone just breaks my heart,” Archambault said. “But there is no greater joy than having your young person feel comfortable enough with you to tell you their story. We give them a safe place to connect, and they give us so much back.”
