What makes Judy Bee such a valuable volunteer is her willingness to serve our mission in the most unglamorous of ways. Judy is the behind-the-scenes person who performs the critical tasks that are needed for JIT to function effectively and efficiently. She’s the volunteer who spends hours writing thank you letters and organizing records of in-kind donations!

A resident of La Jolla, Judy retired in 2014 after being in business for over thirty years as a management consultant for physicians (Practice Performance Group.) Through her membership in Women Give San Diego, a donor giving circle focused on San Diego girls and women in need, she found out about Just in Time and decided to “make a difference” by supporting transition-age foster youth. Her goal was to extend the reach of paid staff by volunteering to take on tasks that met her skillset.

While serving as a volunteer for Walk the Talk, Just in Time’s annual fundraiser, Judy noticed some communication problems between staff and volunteers. She offered to adapt a managers’ course, one that she had used for clients in her previous life, to benefit Just in Time’s managerial staff. The staff found the material to be enlightening and very useful.

Judy is a loyal volunteer at College Bound, Walk the Talk, and other JIT activities. She is an articulate ambassador for JIT in the larger community, always on the look-out for caring individuals who might also be looking for a meaningful, inspiring way to “give back.”
